Why you write – tell us a little bit about why you write about your health online and what got you started.
Why HAWMC? This is our third year of the Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge – why did you get involved this year? Are you a newbie to #HAWMC or a veteran?
When I first started write in the end of 2011 I was just venting my frustrations and trying to find some peace of mind for all the crap that Crohn’s Disease was unfairly throwing my way.
After partcipating in last years HAWMC I found solice in sharing my story with people. There were common themes and issues that reside in the online health community and despite being able to function in the ‘normal’ world – going to work, going out and being social – I still found myself coming back online to share my stories and news. Being a ‘newbie’ in the Crohn’s community, there was noone who could describe or share in detail what was going to happen to me or what it meant. So I wanted to write about what it was like to be new to everything the doctors were throwing at me; whilst I was in remission and now whilst I’m out of it. I want to document my journey.
Don’t we all?
