THANK YOU for being here with me this year 💛 F THANK YOU for being here with me this year 💛

For each conversation, for each comment, for each connection, for each share, like and save. It is a wonderful thing to be part of this online community, more so this year than ever.

I gained another diagnosis and had another surgery this year. More testimony to the fact that chronic illness life does not stop, not even in a pandemic.

I feel stronger than I did at the start of 2020 and I’m taking that energy into 2021 😘

Anyone else? 😂 But in all seriousness, I know Anyone else? 😂

But in all seriousness, I know much won’t change tomorrow except for the date. It’s been a hard, long, frustrating and painful year; and that’s just the COVID stuff. Beyond that, it’s had some seriously rough moments.

Keep on washing your hands, wearing a mask and staying socially distant. Stay safe out there, look after yourself 🤘🏻

My diet did not cause my condition. In My diet did not cause my condition.

In the mist of all the merriment and gluttony of Christmas, it can be easy to think or question “does the food I eat cause my IBD to flare?” 💭

Diet does not cause IBD.

🚨WE DON’T YET KNOW WHAT CAUSES IBD 🚨

We know that some aspect of diet can trigger certain individuals but not the community as a whole. Diet and food is a very subjective, cultural, personal and individualistic part of life, regardless of health issues.

So in this time of food, glorious food, know that what you eat might impact your health for a short while after - like it will for most people! - but it won’t automatically trigger your IBD to go on a rampage.

Keep hydrated, chew well, don’t overdo it too much and have a stash of emergency medicine handy. But most of all, ENJOY! 🍽

Usually, at this time of year, I tend to go into r Usually, at this time of year, I tend to go into reflective mode.

I'd recap the year with a review and look towards making plans for the year ahead.

But, I don't feel like doing that. In fact, during this year, I've made a conscious effect to not reflect too much, because it tends to make me dwell on what I haven't done, of what I haven't achieved, of what I haven't finished (or even started).

I survived this year.

I made it through each day and I am here at the end of it. It has been a rollercoaster of stress, uncertainty, pain, panic and worry. I know it will continue on long after 2020 ends in thirteen days time, but I take comfort in the fact that I am safe and well.
